Is there a point playing real people?

I am a believer that you should be playing real players but I have been playing the bots and their master games a lot lately because I am in a chapter where I am working on new openings, defences and tactics that I feel I am not ready for live games.
With that said, at 700 where you know how the pieces maneuver and attack; I would say just give her to live games.
You can also do survival puzzle rush which has no time limit and will improve your tactics and pattern recognition.

play bot if u want to have fun only.. play human if u want to get better... i suggest you to.. play 7 days time limit.. open up to 20-30... and when ever u got time.. u check the apps and make the move..

In your case it sounds like quick games don’t suit your lifestyle. So try the 1 or 3 day/move ones.

For what ever reason, if it may be short, Then try playing 30 minute matches. Gives you enough time to calculate your thoughts. I usually have music in my ears to block anything out. I dunno if it will help for you... Have you ever tried to find a friend that plays on board?

Bots, are great to play, but oftentimes they get boring and don't give you the actual play experience you need. I recommend playing 5-14 day daily games, gives you plenty of time to think and gives you the actual human play experience. Of course nothing like OTB but still plenty of fun! If your having trouble with time management I reccomend 60-min or unrrated rapid so even if you have to go, you don't lose rating and get to play stronger players. The good part/bad part of Chess.com is that after a certain amount of minutes in rapid the game auto-resigns after a certain stage, so your opponents are sort of forced to play a bit faster but that applies to you as we'll.

I am a low level player 590ish blitz and the bots that say they are a couple hundred points higher are significantly worse then the real people I play. How come?

First of all when grading yourself, grade your rapid level, since that's what is most commonly played in OTB! Personally, the bot's are worse since they will play the same tactics, and lines always because that's how they are programmed to. Even the higher rated bots will respond to d4 and e4 in a pattern. I recommend daily if you want to play actual humans and improve.
The question is not "Is there a point in playing real people?" The question is "Will I learn more from playing the Engine or a human?"
Take it from me. I played engines for a few months before playing people. It KILLED my game. I went from 700 to high 400s.
I left playing on this site, except Daily Games, when I started studying with a teacher.
My rating went from 600 to 1317 (fluctuates between 1300-1520), and my puzzle rating is 1447.
Playing the Engine is so deceptive.
It can only see every move and access which is the best. It doesn't think strategically (although Alpha Zero may be getting there, right?), and there's no psychological component.
Play humans.
Study tactics. A LOT of tactics.
If you want, Chess.co's very own John Bartholomew is the co-creator of Chessable.com
Go over there and do SMITHY"S OPENING FUNDAMENTALS course.
You'll see instant results.
And remember, you lose a lot in order to get better, then, when you get better, you lose a lot because you're playing higher rated players.
I play a guy who's rating fluctuates between 2175-2200 in Daily Games. I learn so much.
When I was 600, I played people who were 1100-1750 sometimes. You have to, in order to learn. Then, of course, play folks at your own rating so you win some games and enjoy playing.
My former coach-- Coach Bill, was a GREAT Coach. The BEST on chess.com. RIP Bill!
I used to ask him a million questions all the time, and he humored me and pushed me towards great books and games to study.
Then he finally said, "Start playing PEOPLE. It's the only way to really learn. And analyze every game afterwards WITHOUT help from the engine, until you've analyzed everything yourself."
I hope this helps.

Play Daily Chess. You can set it to as little as 1 day a move and as high as 14 days a move. I prefer 3 days a move with strangers because it allows you to take the weekend off or forget to play a day.
I have also finished "Daily" games in 30 minutes because we were both online the whole time.

I've been wondering about playing people, too. I'm rated at 480 and rarely win any games. I find this not only discouraging, but upsetting, and I don't play chess to get upset and angry. Playing bots I can take back moves, and if I lose, I don't feel bad. Also, most of the people the computer matches me with are rated much higher, so I don't have much of a chance. This is upsetting, too.

There are a couple types of people on Chess.com Live Chess Servers
1. The Trolls (They create new accounts when they're much lower rated or higher rated and target lower-rated players)
2. The Cheaters (They use engines to gain rating points)
3. The Classics (Been playing chess a long while, some have reached high levels while others play for fun)
4. The Learners (Those who are trying to improve gradually and gradually)
5. The Just-Play (Just here to play and have fun)
6. The Competitive (These people, are just looking to win, and are the most annoying to play as they'll do pretty much anything to win)
Most likely you have been playing 1,2, 5,6. Bot's are great but again I will say, playing people is more fun, if you want to avoid 2 I recommend blitz and bullet but those have their own cons! Your choice

Bitz has the most cheaters and bullet is short to follow

1. Rapid (Most cheaters play 30-min so the engine can process and takes it's time to think
2. Blitz (5-min and increments have a lot of cheaters but 3-min dosen't due to the cheater's engines not being able to make it in time)
3. Bullet (Bullet lacks, so the special-engines oftentimes cause the cheaters to sac unnecessarily making them even worse than worse)

dude engines go up to 3200 elo with one minute for all its moves on a regular laptop. Why would the a cheater play rapid. Out of experience rapid has the least cheaters and no, the engine doesnt need "it's time to think".

If chess just upsets you if you don't, or can't, whin then sure, play with bots so it's fun. But if you want to get better humans may not make the best move every time, but they do have something that most computers don't. It's simply more genuine to play humams and it's more effective to play humans when you want to get better opposed to bots.

That's exactly how I often feel. I also think it's not fair to better player to have play a novice like me. I've done over 3200 puzzles and also do Puzzle Rush everyday, but don't seem to get any better. I don't think my brain is cut our for chess, but I would like to continue to play. Thanks for replying.
I'm beginning to think I should stick to playing bots. Whenever I play real people, life inevitably gets in the way. My wife decides to have a conversation about (take your pick), my kids want my attention or wake up if they're sleeping, etc. There is literally no point in the day when someone is not after me about something. At least playing bots there's no time limit. My last few games have been absolute dumpster fire blunderfests because it's impossible to carve out even 30 minutes or so to myself. I'm not very good when I CAN concentrate, let alone when I'm constantly being interrupted.
