Just sharing a "study" habit I have that I've never seen mentioned here...


A lot of people do that and try to actually guess the moves. You just make the move. They actually keep track of how you do.

The "guessing game" is fun to do with GM games or other strong players. You can also "compete" against others guessing to see if you can out-score them in your predictions. Best part if not the learning...you don't even risk rating for the game
I haven't done that in a while, but it is a casual way to do something chess without actually playing a game. I sometimes play the chess.com guessing game when I'm not really up for a game myself, but still feel like something similar

I have some ideas to get better:
1) Analyze your games with a much stronger player.
2) Study tactics
3) Before moving, tell yourself to consider all checks, captures, and threats.
4) Hire a chess coach
