Hello Everyone!

I am an improving Chess player and I know how all the pieces (including the Knight) move. However, I am looking for resources, book, a Youtube video, PDF files, whatever in order to improve my ability to move the knight across the board using the best possible moves in order to reach my destination of choice.

Is there anything like this available somewhere and if so could you please kindly share the source, link or name of the resource that teaches this? Is there probably an app with which you can train these moves? Here on Chess.com I couldn't find a drill of this kind yet. (Would probably be a good idea for a drill in the future?!!!! wink @Chess.com Moderators/ Dev.

Thanks a lot

Update: I can see that people either struggle to reply to provide resources or this topic is simply not interesting enough happy.png. Either way.... Some input would be really appreciated!

Q: Let's assume my Knight is currently standing on square "h1" and I'd like to move it as quickly as possible to square "a8". How many moves would it require? Could you please provide some input?

In addition to the above let's also assume my Knight is currently standing on square "h1" and I'd like to move it as quickly as possible to square "g2". How many moves would it require? Could you please provide some input?

I am by now aware of the moves when a Knight is on the centre squares but I am wondering about the edges as it seems moving around starting from the edges is slightly different.

Nelson (Chess Vibes) has lots of good videos. Here is one about knights:

@ShouldveSuckToPoker thanks a lot for linking that video. I will watch it later. Hopefully it is giving me the answers I am seeking. Have a good day!

Hi @UnderTwoThousand thanks for your reply! I have done that the last hour and mapped it out. Interesting result... I believe it would take me 4 moves to get from h1 to g2 (instead of 2!) and it would take me a total of 6 moves from h1 to a8. Would you agree? Is there a way apart from trying it out myself to see how many different move orders I can use to move to the same squares?

Thanks @UnderTwoThousand. Yes I have it now all at hand. It's good to see it from the corner's as well. It enhances the overall view. I will get the last bit done that I am looking for and then see how useful it could be for me in an actual game.

Interesting question. I would suggest just playing more games that induce the use of the knight. It should only take a few games of openings consisting of knight moves. (Like 4 Knights Game or Scotch Game.) This might be most effective against training bots in the Vs Computer section. Just play with the knight a lot and you should get the hang of it.
