Hi,

bradleymcanulty

Sorry doing this on phone and enter key submits the answer apparently. I think there's a lot more to it than simple instant improvement which is from me who has started playing in last couple months and has taken some fair beatings since venturing online haha I think it's important to sometimes step back from the idea of playing the "perfect game" and simply enjoy playing the game. Losing games is the key to becoming a better player, look at the quote from Kasparov "If you wish to succeed, you must brave the risk of failure." Maybe rather than focusing on the perfect game just focus on enjoying the game regardless of the outcome. I've enjoyed games where I've been destroyed more than games where I've dominated and found mate in less than 20 etc. What time controls do you play?

Same.
Recognizing that playing people has become more stressful than fun, I've been spending a lot more time improving my puzzle ratings and playing against computers.  I don't feel nearly as bad when I mess up, and I know that I'm still learning and improving.  Depending how good you are, CPUs are also a much more reliable benchmark for skill than random humans.  Chess.com even has CPU with particular play styles, which has been extremely useful for practice.

15|10, but i have been playing around with daily games; also getting stomped there, but I do feel how dailies let you think a bit more

I think this has to do with ratings. When ratings come in play and you don't progress to the level you would want, each blunder feels like 9.1 earthquake and winning is not as fun anymore. Chess is fun if you don't make it into stress where you NEED to progress and and get better.

Fully agree

Your feelings are normal. No one likes losing due to a silly mistake. Blundering is normal for beginners. It takes time to get it under control. Chess is a game of skill and knowledge which require regular study to improve. Very few people pick it up quickly. Board vision (not blundering) is a skill that develops with play and by doing puzzles. It's taken me 11 months of regular puzzles to get it more or less under control. I looked at your puzzle stats and these are trending upwards so you are obviously improving. Be careful when interpreting your game ratings. My rating was static at 1300ish for a while, but the average rating of my opponents was going up, so actually I was improving because I was holding my rating against increasingly stronger opponents. If you feel you are improving then you probably are. Playing Daily will give you more time to think. I only play Daily and G30 or longer. I'm rubbish at faster games. I dont enjoy them. My Daily rating is nearly 1500 but in a 10 minute game I would make terrible moves and blunder through it. Give it time, study, and play a format where you have time to think and enjoy the chess.

Hello

Narayan1998

Everybody suffer from such kind of situation. Ups and downs are the part of our life. What you need to keep in mind is do not upset and do not lose your concentration.

Narayan1998

Just Analysis your game and check why you blunderd or mistaken here. what was the reason ?

Narayan1998

the only way to come out from this situation which i found is follow these steps : 1). Play a game only when you have a fresh mine. 2). Solve few tactics before playing a game. 3). Sit on the board, closed your eys and meditate for 1-2 minute. 4).

4). Try to visualize openings which you wanna play in this game. 5). Let's start.

You will feel more energetic and focused.
