For some players, their established reputation is sufficient to give their opponents a good scare! I mean, for example if Carlsen blunders against you, you might sometimes think "uh oh, he has a tactic coming" even when he actually blunders with no compensation.

I would probably think "Oh a free piece!"
Wait, he's carlsen. Hmm...
Since he's so strong, it's unlikely he will lose a piece in anyhting but a complicated position, too.

@bizmark Even if carlson would ever blunder, and you'd blindfold him after that blunder hed still mate me in the next 10 moves
