New Jersey Chess Club - Junior Chess Lessons

The New Jersey Chess Club’s Winter 2025 – Spring 2025 Junior Program helps kids aged 14 and under, with ratings from 400 to 1200, gain confidence and improve their thinking skills through fun chess classes. With small groups (1 instructor for every 6 students), our expert teachers provide personalized support in a safe and enjoyable setting. 

Kids learn important strategies, enhance focus, and develop problem-solving skills while making new friends. Whether they’re beginners or looking for more advanced challenges, we have the right classes to help them grow and succeed. Sign up now and start their chess journey!

The Winter—Spring 2025 Classes at New Jersey Chess Club start on January 5th, 2025 and ends April 27th. These classes help chess lovers improve their skills in a fun setting, focusing on strategy and understanding for all levels. After classes, from 11 AM to 3 PM, we will have casual gameplay sessions. 

This is a great chance to practice what you've learned, meet other chess fans, and enjoy a relaxing day of chess. Whether you want to sharpen your tactics or just have fun, come join us for this great experience.

In this chess lesson, you'll learn key concepts to improve your game:

Chess Basics: Familiarize yourself with the board layout and unique piece movements.

Fundamental Tactics: Understand how pieces move, capture, and grasp essential game rules.

Strategies: Explore foundational strategies, including center control and effective piece development.

Special Moves: Discover tactical edges with moves like castling and en passant.

Game Endings: Learn methods to conclude games, such as checkmate or stalemate.

This lesson provides a solid foundation for new and returning players, enhancing chess skills and strategic thinking.

Classes meet each Sunday from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Forum Coffee Co., and are divided into two sessions:
(A) 9:00-10:00 am
(B) 10:00-11:00 am
