Same here. My son asked if we could begin playing chess. I had learned the bare basics with a cousin of mine back when I was a teenager. we had a library book, a sheet of paper witha grid, and little pieces of paper as the individual pieces.
I also have a bit of performance anxiety. However, today I took the dive and began jumping into daily games.

I have been here for about a month and would love to play more live games with folks who are still learning, like me. Add me as a friend if you like.
Hi all. I have known chess for quite some time but only in a sense that I knew how the pieces move and a few basics which I struggle to implement. Anyways I'd love to have some people to play with that dont mind the simpleton plays I might try.
I have been playing the bots, and while I have enjoyed them they can only offer so much fun with no communication and sometimes random play that doesn't seem human. I'm a measly ~600 rating as I have also played 3 games of live games. I enjoy them but for some reason I have so much anxiety for nothing. I'd love to play with anyone. I'm trying to learn the basic principles and maybe an opening that I might could understand.
