I've been playing a lot of daily games to improve my chess and I'm at a point where I hardly make any obvious blunders but quite a few mistakes/inaccuracies.  I do tactics every day, practice mating patterns on chessable, follow opening principles, etc.  I haven't started learning openings yet but I'm thinking whether to start going over the most famous ones.  Any tips on how to further improve and avoid inaccuracies?

Hi,

At your rating range, definitely keep up with daily tactics. They will be the most important in terms of sharpening your play. Having a look at openings is definitely a good next step. I see you have a premium membership, so you have full access to the opening explorer. Check out the most popular openings and choose the ones that best fit your style. Have the engine running in the background to give you a heads up on the potentially good and bad moves. Then finally, you should try some rapid games. The feel of a live game is very different from the relaxed daily games that you are currently playing.

Have fun!

You got past 1000 rating! Congrats!! That generally does mean you won't be losing due to obvious blunders or mistakes so that's amazing. I second the idea to continue doing tactics, as that can never hurt, even when you're a master! As for openings, don't try to learn too many. Try to find a good system for white and good system for black against the common openings and practice the same ones over and over and over again! As you have the membership, watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yv1OemSBQ-Y) to learn how to learn any opening.

As for the following steps to get to that 1600+ rating, I recommend trying to make coherent plans based off the openings you play! Remember, chess is as strategic game, not a luck-based game. To do that, this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmFDHhhPhsI) will teach you how to find a good move in most positions and you can learn  from it.

Good luck in your future chess endeavors and if you have any questions, make sure to ask. happy.png

Let’s generate some hard science on chess improvement. I’m trying to recruit for a chess improvement RCT for amateur and intermediate chess improvers.
