Open or Closed Games?

Do you guys think it's more important for someone at my rating to learn open or closed games? I have been mainly playing the Italian as white and C-K as black but I'm wondering if I should look into openings that create more open games to practice tactics. What are your guys thoughts?

it depends on how you want to approach the games depending on your style of preference

I do like the slow positional games

Being an early learner myself I might not be the one to give advice, but… I’ve read that it’s best for early learners to play open games because the games are much more dynamic and tactics-based and you become familiar with those types of positions. As someone gets better they should then start incorporating positional / closed / strategic type games. My two cents for whatever it’s worth. As I said… early learner myself so mostly just what I’ve read.

"Do you guys think it's more important for someone at my rating to learn open or closed games?" ++ You should not learn anything, just play and analyse afterwards.

"I have been mainly playing the Italian as white and C-K as black" ++ That is good.

"I'm wondering if I should look into openings that create more open games to practice tactics." ++ No. Each time you change openings you lose more.
