openings for new players

The Grob isnt terrible if you know that Grob Spike attack thing, but if you don't know the weird attacking ideas behind it you're just weakening your kingside dramatically for no reason
yea lol you should stop playing the grob your way, if you want to play the grob then play it like this:

you get a horrible position so black is clearly winning

While I agree, I do believe that the 1.d4 London System is the best opening for a beginner playing as white. As an 1100 I still use the d4 London as my opening repertoire for white. I also like to play caro kann and KID as black

Yeah, you set up pretty much the same way every time. The ideas are simple and straightforward, good for beginners

How did a topic abt helping beginners with openings turn to a grob topic course lol.
~Side note, I taught my friend the Vienna (poorly though as I do not know it well enough), The Italian, and the London for white.
~ For black I taught him KID and queen gambit.
~ please if you are a beginner do not play grob, rub Lopez, or bird. These have a very high ceiling to master and play off of. If you are having fun ignore this, but if ur struggling, please switch to the stuff I recommended above.
maybe try the Jerome Gambit?
yea, I agree that you should recommend a beginner one of the worst gambits out there.
