pawns can always capture sideways, even during promotion.
Ok... So how do you achieve this? By clicking on the peace you want, keeping the button pressed down and releasing it to the left or right of your original position?

what? it's not a cheat code or anything, you just capture the piece as you would normally and a menu pops up asking you which piece you want to promote to.
The few times I've tried this, the new peace (most often the queen) simply lands on the board and I didn't get the option to move left or right. My turn was over as soon as I choose the queen.
It's the order of your move that makes the difference. If you take the bishop on the 8th rank first, you then get to promote your pawn. If you just move your pawn to the 8th rank first, then your done. Move over.
His move is over after the capture as well. In the upper example, the move is cxb8 - just a normal capture by the pawn. The only difference is that this pawn is on the last rank, so it has to be promoted. So it is promoted to a queen. After this, it is your move. Everything is standard.

Okay, so the others were not very clear about this. After you promote, you can't move again. When you thought you saw it happening, it did not happen. You just got confused.
I had a great promotion just a few min ago but yeah ppl are right he captured your bishop and promo also GAME
Hi. I just played a game where my opponent, after bringing back the queen through pawn promotion, immediately moved on to take out my bishop. In other words, he performed BOTH the promotion and took care of my bishop in a single move. What happened? When I use pawn promotion, I can never move my peace directly after putting it on the board. First, I must wait for my opponent to do his or her move. Thanks in advance.
