playing against computer

Hi, i'm relatively new to chess, only been practising it for about a month. I haven't played against other players yet but only against computer. I can beat computer on level 3 pretty easily but on level 4 its impossible. It seems no matter what move i make the computer counters it with a better move. The tutorials have been useless because none of the moves in the tutorials work. Is level four badly balanced or something? It feels like i am playing against a genius.

Any tips?

Try the bots over in live (Play>Live>against the computer).  Start with the easiest and work your way up.  Always review your games so you at least understand why you lost.  Take advantage of your diamond; do the Lessons, whack out a few dozen tactics puzzles every day.  You'll get better but not without doing some work.  Good luck!

Thanks for advice, ill keep at it. It is a fantastic game and I want to get better at it. I still feel really dumb though, i cant seem to plan ahead multiple moves like alot of chess players do, maybe my IQ is too low xD

You just need to put the hours in.  It's not an easy game.  The Lessons plan gradually introduces you to more and more complex ideas.  I 've been through it several times myself and the upper levels are still challenging.  Just do what you can every day and don't beat yourself up over mistakes; just try your best to learn something from every game.  Keep at it!

tried the suggestion, i just couldn't make it work. Computer even at level 4 just seems to know every strategy i could possibly devise and always has its pieces in better positions. Very frustrating i dont seem to be improving at all.

Tactical puzzles are generally acknowledged to be the quickest way to increase your board vision and get better at chess.  As a diamond member you have unlimited access.  So far you've done one...

You can only plan multiple moves ahead if you know what to look for. If you can't do that after a month of playing, you're just normal. You need experience and training. Think years instead of months.

I know this isn't what you're looking for, but...….don't play against the computer. Play against people.
