Yes. They are very approximate and seem designed to make us feel good about our play. Not long ago there were bots that you could play in live whose ratings rose and fell with their performance. Alas, they're gone.

Hello, I have a question regarding ratings. My current rating is 810 and I tried to play against Beth Harmon at age 9 (1200) and I could very easily beat her. Are the bot ratings different or what?
