Hello, I am a beginner in chess that is stuck at 600+ rating and I am having a hard time reaching 700-1000. Can anybody give me some advice and tips that can help me improve? If so, I appreciate your help! Thank you for helping me!

If YOU are the one having trouble, don’t worry! There are others that can help both me AND you! Anyway, thank you for your help! I appreciate it so much!

Paying attention to safety of your king and pieces might be what you need. You last few losses had moments where you didn't notice opponent checking you to gain advantage (be it also attacking and taking your rook, or outright mate). Not hanging your pieces is also important.

Don’t bother trying… Seriously. It’ll send you mad. The standard of competition on here is utterly ridiculous. I’ve been trying for months to get past 600 And yes I’ve “studied” and read books and watched instructional videos etc etc.. This site is unbelievably difficult for increasing ELO ratings.. Just play and don’t worry about it.

Ratt, please don't tell OP to not even try improving. If you keep playing too fast and blundering, that means you probably should switch to slower time control (say 15|10) and take your time ensuring you don't blunder. Simply check whether you put your piece under attack or leave another piece hanging. That alone will make you win more often.

Learn a couple of solid openings for white. It'll give you a good position to build from and if you play against people around the 600 level you'll win many more games than you lose. Once you've got that down you can start worrying about black.

How did i get from a 700 plateau to 1400 in less than a year? By learning openings, watching gotham vids, doing puzzles, learning to calculate, etc. If you don't try to improve you won't improve, simple as that.

#3 hello mate. I am also like of iron maiden.

Read some chess books and do puzzles

Play solid openings. Tricky openings or gambits will not help you improve.

Study endgames

Agreed, there are too many YouTubers playing stupid gambits and winning by pure luck

vd2010g I never said don’t improve. I was merely suggesting not spending their life trying to rack ELO up..

Ratt, player's elo going up is the natural consequence of player being more capable of winning and thus winning his current elo peers easily. In other words, improving your chess skill is the natural and main way of raising elo. You don't have to "spend life" completing courses/books/videos etc tho; just analyze your games after they are over, and try to learn from your mistakes. Won't take much more time than actually playing, and will help a lot.

vd2010g I’ve analysed my games and they all give the same conclusion. Im trash. Not helped by the fact i made in my 1st comment that the standard of play at low levels is ridiculously high therefore even with all the study and learning and analysis you’re up against it to start with if you’re an average player or beginner..

A year ago I was a 500 elo player and now I am at a 1000 elo, and the thing that helped me out was spending more time and thinking what i should play. Like don't make 1 second moves in a 10 min game, think after every move what has changed in the position. Also follow the Checks-Caputres-Attack rule.

At your level if you don't make blunders and capitalize on your opponent's blunders you will almost all your games

Learn about tactics and try to use them in games with accurate calculation. Also, don't let your opponent benefit from tactics they use.
