Hi,

As I'm new chess I am not familiar with all the terminology and I wonder what "Nxd6+" means.

I know N is for knight and d6 is my position but what's the x and + all about?

Strangemover

x means captures, + means check. So Nxd6+ = knight moves to d6, captures whatever was on that square, and also gives check to the king.

That makes sense. Simple enough. Appreciate the quick reply!
