tips/help

Rating- it’s just a number. Forget ratings and focus on playing better chess consistently, the ratings will eventually follow. In fact, don’t play rated at all right now, play unrated and just practice improving your play. Go back to rated play later when you feel good about your play. Don’t lose on purpose. For one, that’s sandbagging and against the terms of service via indirect cheating. It’s also just putting you further from your goal. Feeling bad about your play and don’t want to solve puzzles or study? Play unrated!
If you want help with your chess I’m always open to for unrated daily games, let me know.

I can look at a game or two later to offer pointers, but you'll only learn to beat higher rated players if you play them. So don't resign, play and learn from the game! I found a challenge moving up was that opponents stopped blundering pieces, so developing a middle game plan and doing endgame drills were helpful. My old plan of "be 5 points up on material and grind the enemy down" did not work when they didn't hand me the points!

Maintain a positive mindset. Focus on the learning process rather than fixating solely on ratings. Improvement often comes in waves, and setbacks are a natural part of the journey.
@1
"whether I'm at my peak or not" ++ No you are not.
"I play kings indian for white/black" ++ OK
"I'm able to play decent tactics" ++ I doubt. Decent tactics = 2000 rating.
"my best was 969" ++ That is a sign of frequent blunders.
"whenever I find myself continually losing games I resign a bunch of games in a row"
++ Do not do that.
When you lose a game, stop playing and analyse it first to learn from your mistakes.
"tips/tricks to hopefully hit that 1k?" ++ Always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it. That little mental discipline alone is enough to reach 1500.

If you care about your rating, you probably shouldn't resign 6 games in a row on move 1.
