Tips on Playing Against Other Players Online rather than Against Bots?

I find it quite odd how whenever I play against a bot, I play extremely well. But whenever I play online, nerves get the better of me and I make bad moves. Anybody have any advice for online play specifically? I get nervous knowing that I'm playing against a real person and I end up making tons of bad moves and end up losing. I'm trying to get used to playing online, but I never feel like doing it, ever. I don't know how to properly motivate myself to play real matches instead of playing against bots all day and nothing else.

Bots are generally untimed, meaning you actually get time to think. This is not so when you're playing against a person.

If time is a problem for you, simply pick longer time controls. Also, remember that chances are the other person is as anxious as you are. 😬

Another issue is that bots tend to be overrated. For example, a bot that's rated 1200 may seem to play more like a 700; this can potentially be very jarring. So, try to play fewer bots so you can get used to it.

Wassup,
I have the exact same problem as you. I can manage to beat the 2000 rated bot just fine, but I am stuck at 600 to 700 ELO. Maybe we can play together? Message me if interested.
