Unrated games

Hi.

I find it quite difficult to find opponents for unrated, blitz games ( in this period, unfortulately, I can't find the time to play longer games ). I've tried 5', 5|5, but I always have to wait a long time, and often in vain. I know that blitz mode is the most practiced; is it possible that among the countless players of my level ( I set a range + or - 100 ) there are so few who want to play unrated games ?

Is it just a coincidence that this happens, or is it actually like this ?

Thanks.

why do you want to play unrated? What's wrong about playing rated?

I play rated, of course. But I like unrated too. Unrated games, played seriously but whitout the stress of the rating, are relaxing and very useful.

OK, that sounds like a problem related to chess psychology, (...) I would just say "play rated and relax", (...) You're not playing for the world championship, (...)

if the problem is time availability, you could try going in the opposite direction: play daily games. With daily games you spend exactly the amount of time you want, when you want.

You're right: the rating is only useful as an indication of long-term progress.

The fact is that I became passionate about chess by attending a club ( which unfortunately I can no longer attend due to lack of time ). There is no rating at the club, you play for the pure pleasure of playing. I think I've assimilated that kind of approach. Therefore, every rated game is a kind of "event" for me, and this distracts me a bit, also because I play relatively little, usually no more than one or two 15|10'' games a day. Even if I played blitz, I wouldn’t play more, because during this period I can’t find the time. ( time, always it… ).

As for daily chess, so far it doesn't attract me, probably because it lacks that "adrenaline" element of the confrontation to be consumed in a precise moment, within a limited time interval, for me and for my opponent. But that doesn't mean I don’t decide to experiment with them.

For me it is an interesting change of pace to play some unrated games against lower rated people than me, because I get some positions I don't get usually in my rated games. Of course, I still play rated games as well.

Is it a technical error in the game, or is the way to kill the pawn by passing it has unclear methods

This is probably the wrong topic to ask that question, but you must be thinking of en passant.

if you don't mind a bit of imbalance, +400/-400 should guarantee you find a game straight away.

+/-400 is a big imbalance... there is too much level difference.
