I just recently joined and this is my first forum post. All I know about chess are the legal moves that pieces can make. Probably haven't played ten games my entire life but am now retired and so would like to learn the game. Working my way through lessons and doing some puzzles but I'm really terrible, so far. My first question is how do you go about playing another live person? I have played the computer some games. Advice?
First, go to settings in live chess and select the rating ranges where you would like to challenge people. +100 to -100 is a good starting point. Then you can click the play icon on the left of the screen. It will give you multiple time options, as you are starting, my suggestion will be to play rapid games of 15/10 or 30 minutes which will give you time to think about the moves.
