The pieces that start on a1, a8, h1, and h8. They move straight vertically and horizontally to your hearts content as long as they don’t hit another piece. If they do, you capture it.
Rooks are one of the most powerful pieces in the game. They move left, right, up or down. You can use them to do something known as castling. You can learn about castling here.

They are the castles, look like towers, very good for killing pawns but sometimes lose against 2 or 3 pawns
