What's the easiest e4 opening for begginers?

I'm a huge fan of the italian opening, but I know there are better openings for begginers like me

Ubik42
Try some gambits, like the danish gambit (1. e4 e5 2. d4 ed 3. c3) or the Scotch gambit.

I think gambits are great for beginners because
1. You get exposed to a lot of tactics.
2. Being down 1-2 pawns is very unlikely to cause you to lose the game at this level.

Italian is a great opening for any level. From beginner to GM. Same goes for Ruy Lopez (Spanish opening). If you like it keep on playing =]

I also kind of agree with ubik42. Not sure if it is the soundest advice but gambits are indeed fun to play

I think the Italian opening is very good for beginners. Also, I like how I can always get a more exciting game by playing the Knight Attack or Evans Gambit.

1e4-2Nf3isbest

Italian is great for people like u.

I also mix in the occasional Ruy Lopez because Y not

just make sure to play 1. e4 2. Nf3 happy.png

try aman hambleton’s “building habits” series on chessbrah extra youtube channel

he plays a 1.e4 2.Nf3, Bc4,Nc3 setup and the beauty is how he deals with the different black responses

his recommended moves follow what many around here call “opening principles” which is quick development of minor pieces, castling, rooks to middle, and creating a luft square

and he plods from 400 up to 1500+ applying the “habits rules” and analyzing games he loses

i dont even play 1. e4 but it is very helpful

Italian, Ruy Lopez, Scotch, Four Knights... pick one.

I liked tygxc's response:

Italian, Ruy Lopez, Soctch, Four Knights.

If you are feeling more ambitious, then I would suggest trying out the Ponziani.

Ruy Lopez is really nice to explore if you know the italian already, i believe it can show the more slower phase of game also (or fast if you choose to) and probably the queens gambit may be interesting and not too complex

FrogCDE

I like the Scotch Four Knights. Clear postional ideas and an open game with plenty of possibilities for both sides.

DasBurner

Italian with c3 d3 or d4

Nautillus3472

Probably the Blackmar Diemer transition into the Ryder...(e4, d5, d4)

Vienna Gambit - if black takes f4 after 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. f4, push e5. If black tries queen e7, just Qe2
