White Openings

I personally hate London because it is one of those openings that everyone plays. However, despite being annoyed with this opening, the Englund Gambit takes the piss out of the London player especially when they premove.

until they don't premove and you just enter a worse position on move 1

I tried it when I was lower-rated and it worked against foolish people but it's boring when they don't fall for the traps. I'm trying to study how to beat it. My current plan is to harass the dark-squared bishop with my knight and force it off. It's been an ok idea

You can also just play 4. nc3 and get a beautiful position as white too
I like to play 5. nd5 (there are better moves but it's still a lot better for white) and most people will eventually play qd8 and then I just gained a free move as white without any problems
The best opening for you is one that you can understand. If you see the point of the moves and understand why black is making the book moves, you will probably be able to figure out what to do when black does something unexpected. Knowing what the long-range goals the opening moves are meant to facilitate and realizing the kinds of things you need to accomplish to reach those goals is worth a lot more than a bunch of memorized lines.
