why are the beginner bots so easy?

I am rated less than 400 rapid and Have beaten on max difficulty, every single bot below 1100

Here are the games where I beat the 1000 bots (about triple my rating)

Hans https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/computer/32493315?tab=analysis

emir https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/computer/30793513?tab=analysis

I can't find the game where I beat maxim in the archive but I did it says 3 crowns

My guess is the bots are meant to help you practice

I don't think you get the analysis bar if you win with 3 crowns.

The "rating" of bots is not a rating. It does not go up and down as they win and lose. It is just a number written there.

yeah but you used the analysis bar to help

The analysis bar does not appear when you play on 3-crown difficulty.

if you click on hans-bot profile he has a rapid rating of 761 and his highest was 987

emir-bot has a rapid rating of 790

where exactly are these profiles, and 790 is still double my rating.  also, just to clarify, the eval bar is only for playing vs bots on 2 crowns. A three crown game is identical to a normal ladder match.

That's interesting, the rapid ratings are a much better reflection of their actual strength.

Intermediate Bots:
https://www.chess.com/member/david-bot 1257 Elo
https://www.chess.com/member/ali-bot 1162 Elo
https://www.chess.com/member/mateo-bot 1200 Elo

Advanced Bots:

https://www.chess.com/member/antonio-bot 1434 Elo
https://www.chess.com/member/wendy-bot 1363 Elo
https://www.chess.com/member/pierre-bot 1289 Elo
https://www.chess.com/member/pablo-bot 1616 Elo
https://www.chess.com/member/joel-bot 1419 Elo
https://www.chess.com/member/isabel-bot 1457 Elo
https://www.chess.com/member/jonas-bot 1622 Elo
https://www.chess.com/member/isla-bot 1562 Elo
https://www.chess.com/member/lorenzo-bot 1655 Elo

Obviously all these numbers are subject to change.

You used to be able to play rated games against the bots in live chess so the ratings you see on the profiles are probably from then. When I was playing Isabel in 10 min live chess she was always rated between 1500 to 1600.

Still it is strange that it only takes me 3-5 attempts to beat a bot thats double my rating. Maybe 700s and 350s are basically the same. I did win against a 700 and a 950 in a tourney today. I’m not really sure how often upsets are between players with a certain rating gap. Is it normal that it takes me such little effort to beat these, or is there something messing with the rating.

Update: martin is 441 rapid?!? Seems like there is definitely something weird going on with the ratings
