why do my matches keep freezing

Im new to chess and everytime i try play a tournament the match freezes but the clock at the top keeps going down. How come this happens?
Maybe you weren't made for tournaments
I’ve noticed some of my matches have been freezing recently as well
This has happened to me many times. Losing ratings/streak due to this is morale crushing at times. Imagine if you’re playing on tilt, having lost like 5 games in a row, and you’re winning and it locks up on you and you lose. Awful :(
