why is my game play so much worse than my puzzles

yeah, i struggle same issue... 1200-1300 in puzzles and 300 in 15+10 games... same with bots, i can beat 1000 bot without problem, but i'm losing with 340 player in 4 moves...
I think it's because the puzzles at this level usually have the same "answer" - either a fork, or a checkmate, or a discovered attack. So there's only like 3 things to look out for to successfully beat the puzzle. In a game there's a billion things to look out for, and, unlike a tactic, often the 'best move' isn't really that obvious. From one beginner to another, could I suggest to improve from 400 you learn about pins, forks, discovered attacks, and counting attackers/defenders. These four things helped me jump up closer to 1000.

@983hf98he4 wow, thank you, this sounds like a concrete answer, i felt like puzzles are not giving me anything, i did not know what to do in mid-game and losing all advantage from opening there...
No problem, we've all been there. Challenge me to a daily game and as we play through I can let you know what I think you could do to improve. Just keep in mind I'm 1350 so technically a beginner as well. But maybe it'll help!

I'm an even lower rated beginner and I struggle with the same thing (I even have a coach now that I see weekly). Happy to play a daily game with you btw. I have noticed the more games I have going on, the less able I am to remember what my ideas were in each game. How are you doing in rapid games?
It is normal. The puzzle rating (here on chess.com) will almost always be higher than your actual rating in blitz, rapid or daily.
For example my puzzle rating is a little over 2600 and my rapid rating is a little over 1350 at the moment.
So just keep working on those puzzles, it will help your chess. The ratings just will not be the same.

but i'm losing with 340 player in 4 moves...
Maybe you should try to not lose in 4 moves?
This was a 15+10 game, which means you have a ton of time to think... and you played Qh4(??) in less time than the increment. Is this how you play puzzles too? Bang out a random move in a couple of seconds and hope for the best?
Don't do this. Don't play random moves. Use your time, and try to play good moves.

Hi - for sure send me a daily challenge. You might need to send a friend request first if there's a big gap between our ratings. 1350 is my rapid score, I mostly play 10 minute games. I find I lose interest if I go up to 30 or even 15 minutes.

Happy to do a game.
I'm about the same level in rapid games as I'm in Daily's.

I can perfectly relate to this comment because I haven't really learned anything from puzzles, and I always screw up mid-game and end-game.

To be honest that "clown" might as well be the lucky games I win. I'm do bank quite a bit on my opponent not seeing what I do if I see a mate in 2 or 3 and I might at my level risk a move that assumes that my opponent sees what I have planned a move too late. That first move might well come across as naive.
