Why Ne4 is the best move?

Note that I am a scrub, but I started playing around with it in the analysis board. It seems like Ne4 is the best move because even after 10. Nxe4 dxe4, Black has superior development and space control. White is in a much more awkward spot positionally. There is no immediate material advantage for Black, but Black has a lot of threats looming for his opponent.
