I usually don't read or post in the forums unless I have had at least one drink. It makes it more interesting/entertaining.

I am trying a new rum recommended to me. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name right now, but if I remember tomorrow I will tell you because, it is quite good!

I agree! And I don't think people want us posting in the forums unless we're drinking, henkesb

so funny would mention as I have been meaning to post a thread on this very subject. Without a doubt yes, even one drink, shot beer will greatly impact your chess game. I am a recovering alcoholic and used to frequently play drunk, with normally a half pint or 4 shots. My rating could barely stay above 1300. I stopped just three weeks ago and now I am rising quickly and am above 1500. I am even easilly beating players well above that and expect to level off at 1600 for a while, I suppose my natural rating. Even one drink will prevent any deep analysis and forget about breakthroughs, you will however win games as your style will be edgey and if you play a familiar opening your sudden moves will likely throw of alot of players. But yes, one drink will harm your game.

No. It had "red" in it somewhere. Red Rum? No, wait, that's something else.
I think that it is ungentlemanly and unsportsmanlike to play under the influence of sobriety. Unfortunately with everybody in the top leagues doping on non-alcoholic beverages, it has seeped into almost every level of the game. I think we need strong measures to cut down on this rampant abuse.

I don't know what rum has "red" in the label? I googled it for a page and nothing came up.

Maybe the label was colored red. With white letters, in some kind of font that curves gracefully into pronounced serifs. All caps, but thanks to the elegance of the font this was not annoying at all. The letters were kind of small because the label was so damn long in the first place.

So I just googled "pretty red-label rum with graceful fonts", and Firefox threatened to crash

It wasn't pretty, I'm just saying the font was well-chosen to soften the impact of capital letters.
Okay, I just googled "Red-label rum with a delicately-chosen font", and I got whiskey.

That definitely doesn't match the label on my bottle of guaranteed oak-aged TANDUAY RHUM Dark. But the letters are colored red, on a light gold background.
I generally prefer wine, but with all this talk of rum...
I try to do a few tactics several times each week. I also like to drink a beer or bourbon a few times each week. An interesting thing I have found over the last few months is that when I do tactics before I have a bottle of beer or a glass of bourbon, I usually get 65-75% correct. However, after a single drink, my success rate on tactics drops to around 50-60%. I want to know if anyone thinks that 12 ounces of beer or 1.5 ounces of hard liquor should impair a chess players judgement for tactics? I'm not really interested in thoughts about playing chess drunk, but I'm willing to bet I will get some.
