The Dark Knight (2008) Didn't mean to attempt to hijack your thread sigfrau- take it back Smile

It's fun what your doing. I found what I was loking for and didn't know there was a james bond movie that had chess in it, so that's good! There's also lots of threads on Chess Movies but they didn't answer the question I wanted so. Maybe the game continues with...

The Prince of Tiebreaks (1991)

Don Quixote (2009)

President Bartlett is a big chess player in The West Wing. One of the things that sparked my interest actually. (It's not strictly a movie, but hey :P - it's a terrific series for those of you who haven't seen it.)

That James Bond one was pretty cool! It was funny how the guy tipped his king over like one of the old western movies where the guy gets shot and says, "Ya got me! OAahwhwh!" Do they do that nowadays? I never saw that before.

Hiveguy

I know this is a very old thread, but I'm looking to find the name of a film.

I designed a game many years ago called Hive, the idea came to me while watching a scene in a film with two old men playing chess in the park. Each would bring along half a chess board and half the pieces, then would then join the boards and play. The film must be before 1989 because that is about the time I had the idea for Hive. If I remember rightly, the two men were always arguing with each other, and I think this was because they disapproved of the union of their son and daughter in marriage.

If anyone is able to locate the film for me, I would be more than happy to send them a signed copy of Hive, as a thank you gift.

Thanks for your help

I always like to check if the board is set up wrong in movies and on the box the pieces come in. . .

In all the movies I look that the H1 square should be white and in the corner. . .

I also check if the queens are on the correct color squares. . .

It's amazing that they set the board and pieces incorrectly. . .
