haha! Rael! This sounds fun! Way ahead of ya, I've already got 3 ideas that I came up with last month or so. I'll wip you up a chess set just as soon as I've got the time to actually sit down and do it.
Create a Fantasy Set and Show Us

My daughter and I just designed our own board last week. I was already thinking of taking pictures of it and posting them here. Thanks for giving me a proper location. I'm at work right now. I'll try to upload the pix tomorrow.
I've got lots of ideas on this theme. I can't wait to see everyone else's.

Here's an alcohol themed chess set I made...
The Bishops are Grey Monk reisling and Grey Monk pinot gris, and the Kingside Knight is a wine called "White Knight".

I've actually seen a bear themed chess set when I went up to Yellowstone. it was in a shop in a town right outside.

The last set I made, because I couldn't resist, was a Cheater_1 theme set. I really think he should look into making this set unlockable as a secret code in Cannibal.
Cheater_1 chess set Queenside...

That Heaven & Hell set looks AWESOME!!! I would so buy one of those. Most of the pictures look like real pieces rather than just pictures. Where are they from originally?
Design your Own Dream Chess Set
Okay so here's the Game of this thread: we come up with imaginary chess sets wherein we substitute characters, animals, monsters, superheroes, care bears, rug rates, star trek personnel... anything that you can come up with for a "dream" chess set as it were. For instance, I'm going to bug our local etymologist ADK that he make us an insect set (ants as pawns? Scorpion knights?).
Here's the challenge though: it can't just be with text. You have to substitute actual images in. There are a few possible templates you can try - one is just a descending order like
King -
[image]
Queen -
[image]
etc, or the other, if you want to be fancy, is to try and make the backrank in succession,
[rook.jpg][knight.jpg][bishop.jpg].. etc.
The third option, one I found that I had to do in a few of the ones I've made already is that for maximum image detail and size you can post one image of the queenside in a post and then one image of the kingside in the next.
Tips on gathering your set: start with www.images.google.com
Choose your sets theme. In a lot of instances adding these words to search strings might bring back some nice results. When I was working on some of mine I looked for figurines, statues, "action figure", miniatures, and models. Anyone who might want to make a fantasy set will have thousands of little miniatures to choose from. Save, crop and resize the pictures as desired. Once I had all of my figures the right size, I imported them into Microsoft word, lined them up in proper back rank array and then took a print screen of it into Paint, cropped once again and saved as .jpg - voila, ready for posting.
Oh, and by all means I don't mean set as in you need to have two opposing sides of the board, just the one side is fine.
I had this idea when I searched for and couldn't find a Catholic themed Heaven versus Hell chess set - one with Jesus as King, Mary as Queen, etc. and couldn't find one in existence. So that was the first one I've made so far, but once I got the handle on it I've found it pretty quick to do and I might whip up some more soon.
This is a fun opportunity for all of us to get creative with chess. The Simpsons chess set already exists, what other wacky/cool/scary sets can you guys come up with. Take your time, no rush, this thread isn't going anywhere.
P.S. With all of the Naruto fans on this website I'm going to be really disspointed if we don't get a Naruto set made (Hokage as King, Tsunade as Queen...?).
