I've had two recent dreams about chess. In the first one, I was waiting on the platform for the train that would take me home from work. I noticed that the person standing beside me was Mikhail Tal. Surprised, because I thought he was dead, I asked him if he was Tal. He shrugged and said he was. I said, in an awed tone, that he was one of the greatest chess players of all time. He just shrugged again. At that moment, a train stopped. It was not my train, but it must have been his because he got on it. As the train left, I was regretting not getting on to talk with him, even though it was not going my way. Then I woke up.
Last night, I dreamed that I was playing in a tournament and had a totally winning position. With a lot of time on the clock, I decided to take a short bathroom break before deciding how to execute the final stroke. When I got back, the board was gone and so was my opponent. Nobody knew where the TD was, so I kept searching the tournament room. I finally found the board, but the pieces weren't there. As I was thinking with regret that I had missed out on a sure win, I woke up.
Does anyone else have dreams about chess? Even if they aren't as weird as mine?
