Lol. Yeah Queen protecting the King does seem "soap opera-like" (I am not saying it could not happen, just that it would probably take dedication on the Queen's behalf).
Of course, in Chaturanga (commonly accepted origin game for chess) - the piece equivalent to the Queen was the "commander." Interestingly, this explains a lot more of chess like how pawns (infantry) can be "promoted" as promotion from infantry to commander makes more sense than pawn (likely male) to a Queen (female) or Rook - an inamimate object (how does a pawn turn into a tower? XD)

I think they should make a new rule in chess where the king has to be the first piece you develop Lol I'm just kidding but that sure would be interesting.
