How funny it is in chess that the queen protects the king. That's so backwards lol

The queen protects the king. Sounds like this great wife is protecting this lazy fat guy and for some reason won't divorce him. Baby you go fight the army while I HIDE BEHIND THESE WALLS. T.T

I think they should make a new rule in chess where the king has to be the first piece you develop Lol I'm just kidding but that sure would be interesting.

Lol. Yeah Queen protecting the King does seem "soap opera-like" (I am not saying it could not happen, just that it would probably take dedication on the Queen's behalf).

Of course, in Chaturanga (commonly accepted origin game for chess) - the piece equivalent to the Queen was the "commander." Interestingly, this explains a lot more of chess like how pawns (infantry) can be "promoted" as promotion from infantry to commander makes more sense than pawn (likely male) to a Queen (female) or Rook - an inamimate object (how does a pawn turn into a tower? XD)

Well, we could rename the Queen the "Chieftain", and the King the "Princess", following the practice in Jetan, and that would solve the problem.

Well just because she is a woman doesn't mean the queen can't fight! Many women achieved great victories in history and many kings were coward, I dont see any problem!!!

If you need to feel good about your chauvinism, just remember that the king is the most important piece, even more so than the queen, who, despite being just a woman, is so much stronger than you think a woman should be.
