A pound of feathers weights 16 ounces, a pound of gold weights only 12 ounces because of troy weight. So a pound of feathers weights more than a pound of gold....
How many squares on a chessboard?

Avoir-Dupois versus Troy differs in both pounds and ounces, n'est-ce pas?
Well I stand corrected. I always thought a troy ounce was 4/3 the weight of a regular ounce, but it is not and that 12 troy ounces per pound referred to the standard pound. It does not.
There are 0.82 pounds in a troy pound, so a pound of feathers is heavier than a pound of gold.
There are 1.1 ounces to a troy ounce, however, so an ounce of gold is heavier than an ounce of feathers.

I'll take a guess. 652
Wait, that's wrong, let me guess again lol.

Damned nonmetric units. You should all be rounded to the nearest power of ten.

They aren't even rectangles.

There are 204 squares on a chess board including the board itself. But in what medium does this board exist? What is the square these squares sit on? I am the two hundred and fifth square (205thsq). This game only exists in my mind and when it suits me i imagine i have a pet griffin who will claw out your minds eye and grasp your pieces in her mighty talons and move them where i whim... Beware my griffin...

Ok 1296 is my guess.
Looking it up, this is correct. My method was cumbersome compared to what you can simplify it into. Interestingly it's also the sum of the cubes in integers 1 through 8 e.g. 8^3+7^3+. . . +1^3

are you counting the two players also..
yes...chess players are SQUARES
I thought they were affectionately called "nerds".
squares is a little kinder than nerds...going easy on myself as a chess player
It depends on what type of chess board it is. If it's a 1x1 chessboard, for example, the answer is 1.
