I Play Chess Because .....

There are a lot of reasons why we play this game: CHESS

It would be nice to find out those reasons. Please dig within yourselves and tell us.

I play chess because this game is fun and it stimulates my mind.  By playing this game, I make a lot of friends who will not hesitate to kill my king.  --- Mariaclara

I play chess because it helps me make friends and make my mind active even when i turn 70+ just like in OTB tournaments i saw a very old man and still became the champion of the tournament he is very good too, i bet his rating if he join this site will be 2500+. I also have fun playing and making each of my ratings improve. I want to improve more and practice more; chess is my passion ^_^

I play chess because it is the one game that truly tests the mind.

People enjoy games they think they are good at

I play chess because:  It helps me think beyond my normal thought process, it excersises my brain, there is no rolling of the dice, It's a what I am capable of doing on the chess board.  Not to sound selfish or self deserving, but when I am involved in a game, it's all about me and making the best move.  I like it because it promotes good sportsmanship, always a warm greeting and always a "thanks for the game, it was a pleasure" win or lose.  Chess to me has become more than a game, It is a very big part of my life, 3rd only to God and my family.  

i play chess for many many reasons. First of all its a lot of fun, and its also makes me relax. Chess i also played all over the world, and its interesting to play with peoples from every corner on this planet. Its also helps getting better in consentration, creativity and much more. Chess also has a great history that is really interesting to read about. And last, but not least: Its always fun to compete.

 My thoughts exactly!  I can't stand Monopoly:

"Congratulations, (insert opponent's name here)!  You landed on Free Parking for the 5th time, so that means that you are a better player than me!"

I hate dice. . . .

i like putting my mind to the test. involving deep thought, creativity, strategy and seeing patterns.
Chess has every challenge I ask for, and I can improve my skills as much as possible.

Its fun and I like to beat people.

I play chess because I like playing chess 'cause I like playing chess.

I play chess because it's the best game invented.

... because IT makes me.

I play chess because .. it takes a lifetime to master and you're always one move from disaster.
