Honestly, though, start to learn some technique and common tactical motifs.  I think that starting from the endgame and working your way backwards is probably best (not in strict sequence, but as a general approach), as you'll learn what endgames are won, and how to convert them, which in turn teaches you what to strive for in the middle game and when to simplify down to an endgame that you know is won.

If you can string this all the way back to the late opening, you can get to a point where the tactical wins you need to get into an advantageous position you can convert into a win are smaller and smaller, and ultimately parlay that into a better positional understanding.  This way you don't have to look for a knockout blow every time, but instead can squeeze the life out of your opponents by building on small advantages.

Outside of principles, and maybe a few key lines in a pet opening, I'd save the openings for last.

The best advice I can give is to try to chekmate your opponent's king without having your own king checkmated.  Once you discover how to do this, you'll have mastered chess!
