laughing in chess

this is a true story.

I was playing in a 25 minutes game and I could feel that I was getting nervous.

I was aware that I had to be in control and not be nervous in order to make the best move.

therefore I got the idea to think about something relaxing - a movie.

unfortunately I was thinking about a comedy.

I don't think the comedy is that funny but at the time I startet laughing - and I

know I shouldn't be laughing in a chess tournament but I couldn't stop myself.

my opponent showed amazing sportmanship and offered me a draw.

I did not want to earn ½ point because I could not stop laughing.

So I played fast and lost the game.

That is rude.. How would you feel if someone was laughing in your face? I would be insulted.. Anywho this story is fake, you would be proably forced to resign your game by the TD because of too many noises..

I think that entirely depends on how loud or raucous the laughter was. No TD would be so touchy as to prohibit a few giggles.

the story isn't fake it happend in a tournament called "syd grand prix in Tønder"

like I said I couldn't help it. and yes my opponent thought I was laughing at him.

JKDK which is on  this site can witness that this is true.

they did not force me resign.

have you never had an urge to laugh even though the situation wasn't funny.

- I wrote the story is true....isn't it rude to assume it fake

Something similar once happened to me. I was playing in my regular friday quads when I just randomly started laughing in the middle of the game. I have no explanation for it but I couldn't stop. I eventually just had to step outside for a few minutes to pull myself together. I got all sorts of strange stares! I ended up losing 10 minutes on my clock in a rapid game, and I went on to lose the game due to a careless mistake. I still don't know why I was laughing, maybe I was nervous or something.

The more forbidden it is to laugh, the funnier everything is.
