I've already called dibs on the wind army among my friends.
Loka: The World of Fantasy Chess

Thanks guys, please help me spread the word!
What do you think it's the best way to do so on this website?

The creator is a member here?!? Cool! I think you are going to get a lot of chess invites now.
As for promoting it here, there are a bunch of ways. First off, Chess.com has a bunch of great staff writers. Maybe you could email Erik, the Prez of this great site, and maybe see if he would be interested in a Chess-y article on Loka and all things Chess? You could also start a blog tracking your progress on the game (blogs here seem to get some good exposure). I would also create a Loka chess group here. Groups are like clubs - they have their own forums and stuff, so it is a great way to keep your fans aware of progress on the game and to keep their enthusiasm up.
Anybody else have any ideas?

Hey Rooks - thanks for the suggestions they are all great! We'll look into them :)
Cheers!
My pleasure. Personally, I am looking forward to the first AAR with the new rules.

And we are approaching the final week-end! Please check it out if you haven't yet!

Thanks!
This is interesting. Looks like Mantic Games, makers of miniatures that are used in wargaming, are getting into the chess scene. Meet Loka: The World of Fantasty Chess:
Loka
I was glad to hear that the sets were designed with the idea of being used for traditional chess. As someone who likes to dabble in miniatures, I find the idea of being able to collect and paint my own distinctive chess sets to be a great idea. The artwork is quite nice.
As for the fantasy rules - there have been a bunch of games that have attempte to fool with the rules of chess. I've never cared for them beyond serving as a temporary diversion from the classic game. Still, it is nice that you can use Loka for two games: traditional chess and the new wargame-y variant (that rule book looks interesting).
Seeing how they already topped their goal by $12,000, I think it is safe to say that this project is off to a good start. Definitely think I will pick up a set at some point once the game is released.
