Mini Chess Games

Hey people.

I am looking into making a chess game with smaller and faster board layouts.

I think playing a shorter version may mean you cannot play your premeditated strategies and also you can reach the end game sooner. I am curious what do chess lovers think about this.

Care to weigh in?

I see dozens of goofy variations on chess that folks come up with around here.  Your variation is one of the very few that I kind of like.  Doubt that I'd actually play it, but it at least makes sense.

I was playing this version and I realised there is not a lot of recovery time. If you goof up there are not a lot of things you can do to get back into the game. Is this the reason you feel you won't play it?

Not sure that's how I would have phrased it, but yeah: it looks like it's pretty quick.  I like the fact that standard chess can move back and forth if you don't give up and keep trying new ideas.  Mind you that's in theory of course; lots of folks (including myself more often than I'd like to admit) tend to give up once they start to lose.

I imagine some folks would like it though just because normal openings won't work and you have to think hard right from the beginning.  Good luck with it!
