Most used chess piece?

Hello, everyone. Today I was at a tournament and saw a dirty e-pawn. I thought 'wow, I wonder how many people got dirt on their fingers from that piece'. Then I started to wonder about how many diseases are on each piece (from certain unclean people who touch them), then I wondered which is the most used piece. So what do you guys think? Which is the most used piece (don't say something like 'the rook' or 'the bishop', it needs to be the exact piece, like 'the a-rook' or 'the g-knight')?

Hi, maybe take a look at these articles?

I think that the pieces that get touched most often are the ones that get taken most often.

And yeah dirty chess pieces are the bane of my tournaments *shudders*

I don't think it makes sense to distinguish between different rooks or knights. The same white rook will likely be set up on a1 half the time and h1 the other half.

Rook-and-pawn endings are the most common endings, and my guess is that rooks typically move more than kings do, so my guess is that a rook would be the most used piece. If you must insist on a specific rook, I'll go with the one that starts on h1, but this is really just a guess.

Here are the stats for Chess Network https://en.lichess.org/insights/Chess-Network/piece/color. I'm not sure how much style influences the list, although for beginners the queen will definitely be top of the list.
