stalemate.  the first puzzle is a draw, amazingly.  White could have flattened black, but it made a stalemate

solution:white moves away leaving the chess board

The first puzzle isn't stalemate because it's white's move.

So what was the previous Blck move? Kg8? From which square? I think it's been a while since black is stalemated :D
