i would play "red square chess.  this is conventional chess with each player, by

random selection ( file and rank number on a card drawn without looking or computer generated ) that lists a square , one each for each player, before the game begins.  these two red squares lie in the field between the pawns, ranks 3 to 6.  once the red squares are selected before the game they cannot be used in the game.  no piece may land on them or pass thru of over them. 

this creates a randomness to conventionl chess and interrupts many memorized

openings.  if i could program i would make such a program and open a website and charge $5.00 a month for anyone to play and then retire to bolivia and drink wine and raise goats ( after going to the bank everyday ).

Have you ever noticed how FMs - NMs - IMs - GMs never seem to display any interest in changing the present rules in these forums? Anyway, there's already dozens if not hundreds of chess variants out there, how many more do we need? 

Personally I prefer replacement chess, mobius chess,  replacement mobius chess and bombing chess as alternatives to the boring old game everyone else finds so fascinating.

i have a creative idea.  it is a good idea.

How about three person chess.The board will be a triangle in the middle which is adjoined to three rectangles on each sides where the pieces start.You can make a new piece called serpent,Whoever goes near the serpent die after three moves.And make an other piece like the old woman who can cure the serpent's poison.

Many theories have been proposed.The chess we have today wasn't like that from the beginning.It is a combination of ideas and has evolved over time.So go on and make all the rules you want.They may click.....Good post
