An escape/

Hmm..

I lost two games in row to this guy (one on Timeout and one due to blunder -  which I will make pretty sure that doesn't occur again); anyway, so premise: I went in it with good attention.

SO, my questions are, I sprang a simple trap, into which he ran. Was there any escape from it?

So, here are my questions:
1. The plan I have in my mind wa spretty subtle, and I dont think If I was against it, I could have detected it. So, is there any general method to to avoid it out.
2. Why did black play 6.. a6 and 11.. Qc5
3. What was best move for black at Move 17?

Q1. A good plan which took advantage of blacks development difficulties. How to avoid, try not to move the same piece twice early in the game, its a general guideline which mainly holds good, the black queens bishop moved four times in the first eight moves, giving white the advantage.

2. a6 I'm not sure, sometimes its to keep whites Knight out of b5, sometimes to support the b5 pawn push harassing whites bishop. Qc5 possibly concerned about the e5 fork, moving the same piece again, maybe Nbd7 was better.

3. Blacks best at 17, already looks lost to me, cant see any moves to help. Perhaps another option on whites 16th was developing the c1 bishop.

Nice mini game with a very neat mate to finish.

Good Luck
