7...Ne7?? 8. Nxe7?? Lucky You!! Your opponent blundered much better was Nxf6+ 32. Rge1?? 32...Be6?? Much better was Bxc3. Both these moves win a piece. There were some mistakes that were not capitalized on, but they cancelled out. You have a better postion, but winning while not taking advantage of mistakes is hard to do.
An interesting game, could I have done more?
7...Ne7 should have cost you a piece and the game. either 8.Nxf6 or (even better) 8.Bxf6 win on the spot. (the difference is, on 8.Bxf6 you lose two pieces... since on 8.Nxf6 kf8, but on 8.Bxf6 he threatens to win the second piece immediately, but you can't capture 8...Bxf6 9.Nxf6+ with Qh6 and mate coming...)
Either way it's over. So that's one mutual blunder (your ...Ne7 and your opponent's Nxe7).
After 23.Ba6, I Would have 23...Qc7, offering an exchange of queens, which really ahs to be accepted (24.Qb4 b3! seems to end the game quickly). After the queen exchange, you have an extra pawn, the bishop pair, more activity, and STILL lots of attacking potential. Seems easily winning to me.
After your 23...Qc6, he may have a slightly less of a difficult time (even if you're still much much better).
25.Rc1 seems like the way he should have gone. Go to defensive mode and hope he can pick up your extended pawns.
His 25.c4 is just a blunder, costs the game immediately, after 25...dxc3 ep (bxc4 also wins, but not as deadly).
with the white king's cover blown to bits, and ...Bf5 coming to join the attack and the extra attacking pawns, and most importantly, the dark squared bishop will be loose on the white king as well, it looks like it's over.
Your reply 25...Bf5 should have cost you the game instead: 26.Qxf5 oops:(
So after 26.Ka1??, game titls in your favor again, but now you have to work hard for a win again.
26...d3 ouch, both players keep missing the hanging bishop on f5.
29.Rc1?? misses the obvious threat to the b2 pawn, and he game should really be over now
Should be, but after 32.Rge1, you can just immediately play 32...Bxc3 and he can't 33.Rxe7 because of 33.Bxb2+ Bb7+ 34.Nb3 d2+ 0-1.
After your 32...Be6, you still have a much better position, but if you remind yourself you've given up an exchange to reach it, white can play 35.Re5!? and although I think your position should still be winning, and is definitely much much betterm you have to work hard for a bit too.
(if you take back the exchange, I can't even tell who's better. But you have other options which keep a very nice advantage I believe. Probably won, with some hard work).
It was a very nice game to look at.
I think I played this actually quite well - against a 1800 opponent, I normally hover around the 1580 - 1700 mark so to 'win' with Black was great for me, I think Ive got a really good attack going without him actually making a blunder - however, would love some comments on whether it was simply poor defence from him or If I could have played certain aspects of it before?
So as I say I feel I played it well, and im sure the game is mine after he moves his queen to a5, the only place it can go.
