Analysis with Fritz

I'm not sure if my question belongs in this forum. But, I'll try anyway. Can anyone tell me how to analyze a Chess.com game with Fritz? I have analyzed a game I played against Fritz with the program, but not one I have downloaded the PGN for. Thanks!

Hi!

Sorry, this may not be very helpful, but I will try to remember how to do it. I am assuming you have already saved the pgn file somewhere where you can open it from Fritz. If you have, then you would open the game/file from Fritz. I think you go to WINDOW, LOAD, and you would locate the game. If this does not work, you can go directly to file, right click it and OPEN WITH program - Fritz. [I apologize if I am being too detailed.]

One you have the game up and running in Fritz, you can go to (whatever) analysis level you want. The version I am looking at has "INFINITE ANALYSIS" - (a magnifying glass focused on a 'tablet'.)

I haven't done much Chess in the past year or so I have forgotten a bit of the things I never used to use much.

I hope that helps.

If it doesn't work, check with SonofPearl - I think he has Fritz as well.

Take care.

Thank you for your response, chessiq.

I cannot get the file to load in Fritz by using Open With.

When I am in Fritz (Version 10, by the way) my Open options are Opening Book, Database, Multimedia, Chess Media File, or Tournament.

I can get the file to load in Chessbase Light 2009, but when I choose GoTo Fritz from there, it will not load in Fritz.

Hi Bardu:

Try the instructions below:[ I found it at chesscircle.net]

re:Using fritz to analyse games - 2006/07/14 05:48 In order to be able to anlyse a sit of games you need to open the PGN file as a database.

1) Click File->Open->Database to get to the database screen.

2) Then click File->Open-Database to bring up dialkog box to open a specific database.

Change the default file type from CBH files to PGN files so you can locate your PGN file. Then browse folders to locate your file & open it.

You should see a list of games from the PGN file after it's open.

Note: Fritz will remeber which database you had open so the next time you start up Fritz you can skip step 2.

3) Select which games you want to annotate.

4) Do a blunder check as described below [or do a full anaysis by clikcing Tools->Anasylsis->Full Analysis]
