Annoying rook and pawn endgame

What could I have done better here? I had a lot of trouble looking for the right moves. I'm aware that towards the last part of the game I think I made a mistake which led to my position becoming a losing one, but I didn't know what else to do because it seemed like the entire game was becoming deadlocked. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi hrb264

I put in some remarks - maybe these are helpful

Thanks for those. Yes you are right, I should have tried to place my rooks on the b-file, but I was trying to do something around that pawn (which i later ended up losing :()

My analysis is wrong black wins that by pushing the e pawn at the end

thanks. what move would you say i started to lose at? When I made those mistakes I found it very hard to work out what the next move should be ...

Surely 34.Bxe5 ?? was a mayor blunder

but also 29.Ke2 ? was a very ugly move.

You squeezed in your own rooks.

Rooks need room, open files and air to breath !

Don´t lock them in dungeons like pawn chains Wink

Lol you're right there. I just played another game where I was winning but the slight threat of a back-rank checkmate led me to do something REALLY fucking stupid *facepalm*

Winnie_Pooh

Yes - Fear is bad counselor

Never make defensive moves just because you just fear a possible threat - always try to work out exactly if your opponent has really a threat or it is just a bluff.

hrb264

yes lol i've lost so many games that way :D

I agree with you there though Frankdawg, move 31 I think is when I really lost the plot. It tends to be with me that when things are going really well (or at least not terribly) I can overlook something really stupid and lose the game !
