Sorry - typo. Should read "It *does* everything else fine..."
Arena Doesn't Always Show Statistics/Eval Bar Graph
I can get the axes of the graph, but no bars. The axes disappear when I click on the graph, but that's not what I'm looking for, obviously.

Yeah, I experienced it with Arena 3.0, then the problem went away somehow, now installed Arena 3.5 and it's there again.

Recently, I've been doing the "tac tics training" and when reviewing my stats. Can you please explain to me the significance of the bar graph

What was the solution? I seriously don't want to install an older version of arena
As far as I can tell, the solution for me was as I stated in Post #4: Click your mouse on the Move Info window, and that should make the eval bar graph appear. See the "star" area in this image:
Clicking in that area toggles the graph on and off. If you see the graph axes but not the eval bars, check in the menu (Options --> Appearance --> Main Window --> Colours --> Statistics bar white (and black)) to ensure that the bar colors aren't the same as the background color.

Thank you for answering so fast. Yes, I did what you said but still got no bars. I ended up downloading ScidvsPC which worked wonderfully. Thanks anyways

Well OK, ScidvsPC is a good package, too. I'm just frustrated that I can't figure out why some people can't see the graph.
One last question -- Can you see the axes of the graph? (The vertical y-axis of +4 to -4, and the move numbers on the x-axis (5, 10, 15, etc.)). There is a goofy glitch where the graph can sometimes hide beyond the right edge of the Arena window so that you can't see it at all. If this is the case, you can pull the right edge of the Arena window further to the right until a part of the evaluation graph is visible. Then you can use your mouse to pull the evaluation graph back to the left as desired.
P.S. - It's also possible to hide the evaluation graph at the TOP of the Move Info & Statistics window. So try playing with both the vertical and horizontal window separation bars.

I've got areana 3.5 and the graph area is displayed, but no bars appear in it.
Do you have that problem during automatic analysis, or in other modes?

Just when I click Analyze after whatever position i get set, no bars appear in the graph area upon changing position and continuing an analysis.

I'm pretty sure that you'll only get the bars if an engine is actually playing a game, or if you're doing an automatic analysis. I don't think the bars will appear if you're doing manual analysis.

Automatic analysis (Ctrl shift A) can display bars ( histogram) of engine evaluation for your games. After the window pops up go to the Output tab and Select "Save calculated values in game (old values will be overwritten)".
Also, for some reason Arena stops 2 moves before the end of the game, so if you want those two move analyzed too I found an easy trick to simply add two more continuation moves (doesn't really matter which moves as long as they are legal) and then you can delete those move later but the graph will persist through all your original moves.
Hi,
I'm a fan of using Arena to do post game analysis, particularly for the statistics / evaluation graphs which point out missed tactical moves (or blunders). I have it working fine on my primary computer using either Houdini 1.5 or Rybka4. I tried setting it up on a friend's computer with Houdini 1.5 and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the statistics / evaluation bar graphs to appear. It doesn't everything else fine - automatic analysis, etc.. I remember having this problem on my primary computer a year ago and it eventually worked but I forget how/why.
Anyone else experience this? Any guidance?
Many thanks,
-Lee
FYI. It would be nice if Arena had the same feature as what I use on Rybka4/Fritz where for a given position it can show the top N moves with a score for each.
