I sometimes wonder that myself, too.
Yes, some commentor said that Fischer wasn't ready for Tal yet but he still played him.

From 1956 to 1961, Tal was the most amazing thing chess had ever seen! He pissed off, baffled, and amazed the entire world of chess. A truly "meteoric rise"!
Was Boris Spassky around with Tal? I'm not good with chess history.

as an american and fischer backer, please do not show these games in the developmental stage of fischer's career. They don't represent the full blossoming of his chess genius and do us all a disservice.

Seems to me Team Soviet out prepared the fifteen year old RJF.
Fischer was +0 -3 =2 with Spassky before their WCM.
