There doesn't seem to be any reason that I can see that this would be declared a draw outside of just "haha, computer bug go brrr". There was no three-fold repetition that I'm aware of, no fifty move rule draw, definitely had sufficient mating material, but the game just decided that it was a draw, giving me no reason and effectively saying "haha, sucks to suck". It's a bug, right?
Can someone explain why the system declared this a draw?

This situation is called a stalemate and is indeed a draw. Black is not checkmated (therefore hasn't lost) but can also not move (therefore the game must end, as turns can not be skipped). I get that it can be frustrating if you haven't heard of that rule before.
Ah, thank you. Yeah, I'd not heard of the rule, and it's a little infuriating for sure, feels like being cheated out of a win. I guess I should've done knight to 5d, Then king to 5f, then bishop to 4e. I know for the future now, thanks!

And to educate you with notation, remember the following:
1) Pieces are signified by K, Q, R, B, and N. There is no letter for pawn as it is not used.
2) Squares are signified by file first, then square, like f5, NOT 5f
3) An x means captures or takes
4) A pawn capture starts with the file the pawn started on.
Therefore, see the following diagram with opening moves of the French Winawer Poisoned Pawn. Notice the early pawn moves are DESTINATION square only, Like e4, e6, d4, etc. Piece moves are piece and destination square, like 3.Nc3 Bb4. Captures have an x, and pawn captures, like Black's 9...cxd4, start with the file the pawn started on, and note Black's 5th vs White's 6th moves. Pieces are always capitalized, pawns never are. That is how you tell Bishop takes c3 vs Pawn takes c3.

Once you start studying endgames, you will find that stalemate possibilities are a huge part of endgame theory.
Don’t think of it as a cheat, is just the rules.
Some practical advice: once you have enough material to checkmate, then checkmate. Don’t keep piling on by promoting more pawns because then the board can get confusing and it is easier to stumble into stalemate.
There are two chess rules that aren't pretty much intuitively obvious: the en passant capture, and stalemate. It's well worth your while to look up those rules and understand them

You realize that this is an old topic resurrected by a spambot, right?

[spam removed -- MS]It is black's move. Black has no legal move. Therefore the game cannot continue. Yet black is not in check, so white cannot be declared the winner as they have not checkmated black.

Huh?
At first glance it appears @magipi is explaining to @Laskersnephew that he is replying to a spam bot. But I don't see a comment @Laskersnephew is replying to. Maybe it's already been removed.
If anything, @Laskersnephew looks like a spam bot account. In 4 years time, only 11 games played. Five of them with an accuracy above 90% and about 3k activity points.
Then @mpaetz responds, totally ignoring the rest. Also a member since 2018, no games played. Activity points over 1.6k.
As the cherry on top @aliviya replies with "это пат"
Bots on chess.om
I hope someone can show me what I'm missing here, but it looks like I was wrong about bots and chess.com. Wrong, that I thought bots were rare rather than prevalent. And I think I was wrong that I assumed chess.com was on it, but it looks like they are not.

That is exactly what happened. It was the most basic super dumb spambot, quoting an entire post and then writing "hey guys visit something.something.net." Not even tried to disguise as a human.
People then jumped on it, replying to year-old comments like there's no tomorrow.
https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/24911440051?tab=analysis It seems to me that black can't move without being mated and white is perfectly fine.
