Common endgame position

That's a lot of passed pawns... I'm thinking taking advantage of the pinned bishop on e4, but I'm not sure how. Maybe 1. Nxd3 Nxd3 2. Bxd3, followed by perhaps Qh2 to get the queen in the middle.

Am I close? (and how in the world is this "common"? At least I've never seen it).

It's a joke--it would be essentially impossible for black to get eight passed pawns at any level.

1. Kf2 is probably where it's at at least to start (otherwise 1. ... f2+! wins the queen), but it's going to be a very complicated game.

1. Bxd3 looks like it wins a piece. If I am wrong please say so.

1. Bxd3 b2 2. Kf2 bxa1(=Q), now what? The position is sharp but probably bad for whtie.

1. Kf2 is probably better, since it is easier for white to get a perpetual here. Without a perpetual, it is impossible to stop black from promoting at least one pawn. But black also has plenty of opportunities for threefold repetition here, so this is almost certainly a draw.

EDIT: And can you show it is legal? (It might not be.)

Seems that most of the games are just made up positons. Not sure what good they do if they are not from real games.

Not everything on this site necessarily is directly targeted at improving your chess game. But I would argue that these do anyways, since at least all the analysis is real chess analysis and will force you to think about analyzing unfamiliar positions, even if these specific ones are contrived and ridiculous.

To be honest, it was inspired by this thread. But then that thread exploded into random ad hominems, so I started this instead.

Also, rooperi, 1. e5?? Qb8+! 2. Kxe7 Qc7+ 3. Kd8 Qd8#, I think. I might plug this into my computer to make sure.
