Does this Gambit have Merit?

Here is a game where I played a much higher rated player in the Ruy Lopez. I was able to prevail in this game due to a Knight Pawn Gambit at move7. At this point in the game we were still in a main line, Does this Gambit have Merit?

It is possible that my opponent just missed the proper defense, but I must say that I truly enjoyed playing this Game!  ;-)

The gambit seems pretty dubious, but online play it's fine.

A better defense would have been after 12...Bg4 Bxc6+ and dxe5, and black really has no attack.

Ah haha~! Hey its a gambit but Not Original.  I've seen it played, and actually had the black side in one of my own online games in the 1980's on Leisure Linc. You were Typing in Move Coordinates, weren't you ? At least, -I- was doing that and thus came out with g7-g5 when meaning b7-b5. Or did you intend it? I don't remember my own game with it, but would be willing to wager that you may be the first to Win the Gambit and should surely get to Name It~!  Well done~! Cool

Really it looks like a lot of fun in a blitz game. I may give it a try again. Seem to recall now mine was a corr game, and I only drew with black.

Upsetter: After Bb3 check black simply gives up the exchange for the minors. In a middlegame, the minors clearly outshine the rook, regardless of the amount of pawns.

This was a Correspondence game played at ChessWorld. The ratings are ChessWorld's as well. I don't know what my rating here would be, as I only have 2 completed games here. I am very new here, seems like a great site!
