DRAW BY REPITION

Of course it isn't the wrong thing to do, if a draw is the best result available then you get the draw, these are the rules of chess and your opponent is a sore drawer.

Every legal device, technique and trick should be employed to defeat one's opponent. No compunction or remorse should be felt for playing the game within the rules. It sounds like he was mad at himself for making a pig's ear from a won game, but you were conveniently at hand to focus his anger.

I had a similar experience, though not with a higher rated player, some people want to pick and chose which rules of chess to follow according to their advantage. You did a good job.

Kudos on saving the draw. You're opponent didn't earn anything more than the half point if he left an avenue open for you to force it. You should absolutely report the abusive response to your completely legitimate play.

How did you win a pawn by 'sheer luck'? He left himself open and you chose to capture the pawn correct? What luck could there have been?

Why? Does this benefit anyone?

Yes -- rather than simply taking the passive route of ignoring or blocking the member you might actually prompt chess.com to reach out and warn them and at a minimum clarify the rules and in the off chance, actually cause them to correct their behaviour saving other members from similar encounters in the future.

You know whats funny about this.
That when you forced the draw you had a winning attack. I just checked out your game and I would have to say that you were winning at the point you took the draw.
Your opponent should have counted himself lucky.

Why waste everyones time when it's so much easier just to laugh and move on? I'm not even sure if saying things like "you just HAD to draw there because I was winning" (if that's the sort of things he said) is even against site rules...
Edit: Nevermind I missed his remark that Knight73 should "go die"...

It's was more the language he used that concerned me.
Thanks 'idosheep' for your confidence in me!! lol.

Hey, it's your call what you do when it happens to you -- in my case it has to be pretty egregious before I'll report abuse, but if it is I won't hesitate to do so at all. I don't know what all was said, and outside of the one quote perhaps it wasn't all that serious but if it was I'd want that kind of thing reported if this were my site.
